Taking time and slowing down!

For many, the holiday season is a frantic race. Between the preparation of meals, the purchase of gifts, the invitations and the multiple outings, we often feel that there is no more time for us or to simply to rest.
A wise man once said, "Time is not something we have, it's something we take". So, how can we try to take this time and enjoy every moment in the holiday season? Here are some ideas and tips that we hope will inspire you and help you along this path.
Eat slowly
The brain needs 20 minutes to realize that we have eaten enough. Taking our time to eat is also giving the brain time to update us on our appetite. Since the holiday season is recognized as a time when there is a lot of food abuse, eating slowly will help you avoid weight gain, and most importantly, it will save you from an indigestion or being sick. In addition, you will enjoy more of each flavor by taking the time to enjoy each bite and your meals will seem to taste even better!
Fill up on energy
It's no secret that we sometimes need to recharge our batteries. The holiday season should be an ideal time to rest. Take time for yourself, relax and slow down, and you'll see how you'll feel better and in full shape to start the New Year! Here are some ways and tips to help you recharge your batteries:
• rest as soon as the opportunity arises;
• go to bed earlier;
• sleep longer;
• give yourself some real naps;
• get up a little later, etc.
In short, focus as much as possible on rest and relaxation.
Mindfulness meditation
Mindfulness meditation offers very good benefits and allows us to live in the moment. Start with just 5 minutes a day and practice meditation at home, in the office, outside or wherever you want! This practice can really help you to let go of the whirlwind around you and enjoy every moment of your holiday season.
Practising a sport or a physical activity
Of course, taking time for yourself is also about caring for yourself and your health. Thus, to better manage your stress and improve your digestion after all of these abuses, nothing is better than a good workout or physical activity. In addition to eliminating the toxins and "the bad stuff", you'll feel more serene and calm after being active.
No matter what activities you have planned during your holiday break, try to do it with an exaggerated slowness. It's time to take a well-being break and enjoy every moment.
"There is more to life, than to increase its speed," said the great Gandhi.
From the team of ZEN&CO, we wish you a wonderful holiday season, all in slowness, and a very good rest.
