Getting ready for winter!

Although a number of people are looking forward to winter, we know that most people see winter as a tough period to go through. But how can we get prepared for winter and hence enjoy it more? Here are some suggestions and solutions to help you have the best winter possible.
In winter, our energy level drops and sometimes our morale follows. Yoga can help you to gain back your energy, in addition to warming you up and cheering you up. Some postures are even indicated to help your blood circulation, stimulate your glands and your systems, and thus offer many benefits. Moreover, yoga has real positive effects on the immune system, and who says good immune system also says, better health and less risk of catching all the viruses!
It is also important to practice the different breathing techniques related to yoga. They will also help you create warmth, open your respiratory tracts and increase your immune functions throughout the winter.
The lack of light and sun also has a lot of negative effects on us in the winter. Luckily, there are a few ways to counter them, like:
• taking vitamin D;
• increasing fish consumption (especially salmon and trout);
• doing luminotherapy;
• sleeping more.

Winter and cold also wreak havoc on our skin, so it is advisable to get good moisturizing creams and oils for our face and body, to prevent the dehydration of our skin and peeling.
How can we love winter and change our perception of it?
The work of psychologist Carol Dweck, to only name one, has shown that those who believe in their ability to change are more willing to make efforts to achieve that than those who think their personality is casted in concrete. The negative effects of this fatalism have been demonstrated in many areas: school, sports, work, friendship, family, couple and, now, winter.
Thus, we could have control over our appreciation of winter and how we perceive it and live it. Hence, you only have to convince yourself that you like winter and then take steps to really appreciate it!
Also, mindfulness can help you live the moment and appreciate what you have and what is good in your life, instead of focusing on what you do not have or what you do not like. Thus, the regular practice of mindfulness leads us to accept things as they are and to learn to see them as elements that also bring their share of positive. This practice could help you accept winter and live it much more peacefully.
On all these good words, we wish you a good preparation for winter!
